Do you know what your organization is doing to be HIPAA compliant?  HIPAA audits are happening and the paybacks related to violations are large!

In this preconference seminar, faculty will address the many complexities of patient privacy and how HIPAA security has taken the back seat for many hospice providers. This 3 hour session is designed to guide senior leadership in what they need to know, what their Board needs to know, and what they need to ensure their staff are doing to protect the organization and their patients’ information. With only 14 days to respond to a request from the Office of Civil Rights, it is critical that every hospice be in compliance. The NHPCO HIPAA Security Risk Assessment Tool will also be unveiled and participants will be the first to learn how to use it in their hospice programs.

Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss HIPAA security risks for hospice providers including electronic communication and mobile devices
2. Discuss HIPAA security audits happening in the US health care industry
3. Describe the NHPCO HIPAA Security Risk Assessment Tool and its application
