1. Explain the need for establishing national benchmarks for hospice volunteer programs
2. Name at least two sources for identifying volunteer data to establish volunteer program benchmarks
3. Identify next steps for measuring hospice volunteer program outcomes using internal and external benchmarks
Benchmarking in volunteer programs is an excellent way to measure and identify strengths as well as improvement opportunities.  Members of the Volunteer/Volunteer Management Section Steering Committee will present their collaborative work with NHPCO to establish national standards for hospice volunteer programs.  Participants will explore data that is currently available and will learn about new data collection that will allow them to measure their hospice volunteer programs against internal and external benchmarks.  Faculty will discuss tools and resources for measuring programs against national standards of excellence.
