Facilitating True Quality of Life: Counseling the Hospice Patient

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify at least five issues that are common to hospice patients
2. Describe at least two ways to facilitate communication with the hospice patient
3. Use clinical terminology to describe at least five common interventions
Social workers and spiritual counselors must employ a variety of assessment and intervention techniques to explore core values and address the issues that impact quality of life for the hospice patient.  This session will use many case examples to provide specific techniques which facilitate assessment and effective interventions as well as verbiage to increase the use of clinical terminology in documentation.  In addition, participants will be exposed to a variety of resources to aid in supporting the hospice patient and family.
