Learning Objectives:
1. Identify when the MS patient is appropriate for hospice services
2. Identify the special emotional and physical needs of the hospice patient with MS
3. Provide more empathetic care to these patients and families
Participants in this session will learn about the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis and the different types of this disease, the ‘uniqueness" of terminally ill patients with multiple sclerosis and the complications of this disease. In addition, faculty will provide information to assist hospice professionals in identifying when the multiple sclerosis patient may be hospice appropriate.
