Dealing With Issues of Suicide

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe situations in which a person is likely to think of suicide as an option to relieve stress
2. List at least 3 warning signs of suicidality
3. Describe the crisis intervention model that can be used to address suicidal thoughts
This presentation will explore situations that may result in suicidal ideation, why a terminally ill individual might become suicidal and warning signs of suicidality. A model will be presented to facilitate appropriate therapeutic responses to the suicidal individual. In addition, faculty will identify resources to support hospica and pallicative care professionals.
