In 2010, the Concurrent Care for Children Requirement (CCCR) was signed into law as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to improve pediatric patients’ access to hospice care while simultaneously receiving disease modifying treatments. This session will provide an overview of the progress made over the last 5 years, highlighting successes and common challenges experienced across states. Case examples from Georgia and California will highlight how local pediatric clinicians and stakeholders worked with state-based Medicaid programs to identify and overcome barriers to CCCR implementation. Finally, faculty will discuss the legislation's impact on improving care for children with life-limiting illnesses and what additional advocacy efforts can be taken to optimize its impact.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the CCCR legislation and models of successful implementation
2. Summarize the benefits gained from CCCR implementation
3. Identify barriers to the development of concurrent care and next steps in overcoming them
