Step Up and Lead! Straight Talk for Hospice Managers

Thursday, April 7, 2011: 1:30 PM-3:00 PM
Primary Presenter:
Gary Gardia, MEd, LCSW, CT
Area of Emphasis: Workforce Excellence
Learning Objectives:
1. List three common errors made by hospice managers
2. Describe one method that is effective in keeping staff/volunteers focused on setting and achieving professional goals
3. Discuss the importance of applying the “first do no harm” concept to management
If you think you'll be uncomfortable listening to straight talk about the critical need for highly effective, skilled managers in hospice, this is probably not the session for you. We can no longer tolerate "wanting to be liked" or "I don't have time to hold regular coaching sessions with employees." Waiting for an annual evaluation to find out how one is doing is just bad management. This and many other common mistakes will be addressed along with solutions that produce results.
