Saturday, April 9, 2011: 11:45 AM-12:45 PM
Primary Presenter:
Meg Pekarske
Area of Emphasis: Regulatory Issues
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe a day in the life of a nursing home
2. Identify keys elements to building successful collaborations
3. Examine practical ways that hospices can improve nursing home relationships
Hospices and nursing homes have a unique relationship that government regulators, enforcement agencies and policy-makers continue to analyze. The goal of this session is not to provide an analysis of the specific legal issues that surround this relationship, but rather to take a step back and discuss practical ways that hospices can improve their nursing home relationships. This session will identify areas where hospices can add value and improve collaboration by asking the basic question: "If I were a nursing home, what would I want from a hospice partner?"
