Friday, April 8, 2011: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Primary Presenter:
Shirley Otis-Green, MSW, ACSW, LCSW, OSW-C
Area of Emphasis: Workforce Excellence
Learning Objectives:
1. Examine the need for innovative psychosocial-spiritual palliative care education to enhance leadership and advocacy skills for psycho-oncology professionals
2. Describe the educational design and outcome measurement strategies used in this five-year educational program
3. Identify how the evaluation data have applicability within their own settings
This presentation will describe the design and initial findings from a five-year, NCI-funded intensive leadership training program for 300 competitively selected psychologists, social workers and spiritual care professionals. Six and twelve month follow-up evaluations examined the continued impact of the training and asked participants to report again on their confidence regarding key palliative care competencies and on the progress that they have made instituting their change goals.
