Comfortable dying is at the very heart of the hospice mission. How does a hospice organization measure its effectiveness at meeting this most basic patient need and also prepare for the anticipated CMS quality reporting requirements? Using the NHPCO Comfortable Dying Outcome Measure, this session will explore how The Denver Hospice worked to develop clinical interventions for patients who are uncomfortable because of pain at admission, to implement data collection and tracking processes and to manage a comprehensive quality improvement project focused on bringing patient's pain to a comfortable level within 48 hours after admission.
