Learning Objectives:
1. Define comparative effectiveness research
2. Identify examples of ways in which comparative effectiveness research could be used to guide policy and practice in hospice care.
3. Suggest key comparative effectiveness research questions that are relevant to their own organizations' operations.
As the hospice industry continues to grow, and as CMS begins to require public reporting of quality measures, it will be essential to build an evidence base that can guide the delivery of high-quality care.  This is the goal behind the growing interest throughout health care in comparative effectiveness research:  Research designed to identify effective care.  This presentation will describe this growing field, and will describe ways in which hospice can and should participate.
