Potomac C (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center)
Primary Presenter:
Steven Gardner, MPA, PAHM
Co-presenters:
Cherry Meier, RN, MSN, LNHA and Judi Lund Person, MPH
Area of Emphasis: Regulatory Issues
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the latest growth trends in Medicaid Managed Care (MMC)
2. Define carved-in and carved-out hospice benefits under MMC
3. Identify effective collaborative approaches with MMC Plans to promote hospice and care coordination
With more than two-thirds of Medicaid beneficiaries receiving their benefits through Medicaid Managed Care (MMC), hospice and palliative care providers are interfacing with MMC more and more. In addition, federal and state budget constraints coupled with the expansion of the Medicaid program through The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will undoubtedly result in the continued growth of MMC. In this session, members of NHPCO's Medicaid Task Force will explore the latest trends and issues including reimbursement rates, Medicaid demonstration waivers, carved-in/out hospice benefits and care coordination between hospices and MMC Plans. In addition, this session will serve as an open forum for participants to share their experiences with MMC providers.
