Healthcare reform and new regulations are bringing rapid changes to our field. In spite of a high degree of uncertainty about future economic conditions, reimbursement levels and regulations, hospices must still plan and budget for the future. This presentation will discuss concrete suggestions for planning techniques to make sure your plans are not only useful, but actually get used, even under changing conditions. In addition, faculty will discuss how to keep everyone in your organization, from the board level to middle management, informed and engaged during planning so providers ensure they get the best from every individual at every level. Montgomery Hospice, a large freestanding hospice provider in the Washington metro area, will provide illustrative case examples of real-world challenges faced by a hospice provider before, during and after the planning process.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify different informational needs within your organization, from board members to middle management
2. Discuss scenarios used in hospice planning for use in your own program
3. Use several techniques for reporting to board and senior management to ensure a plan is used and updated when necessary
