In August 2008, NHPCO held its 2nd National Conference on Access to Hospice and Palliative Care and urged the participation of experienced, engaged and dedicated end-of-life professionals to raise their voices and increase commitment for inclusion and access for all facing serious illness or death. Today we further examine NHPCO’s commitment to diversity and inclusion while leading through the currents of change. In 2014, a Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) was created to provide information, guidance and technical expertise to the organization and its members regarding serving diverse populations. This session will address the creation of the DAC; its mission and shared values; the adoption of a Resolution on Access to Hospice and Palliative Care; fundraising sources and approaches and input from members to better reach and serve diverse populations.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the formulation of DAC and its mission
2. Discuss the adoption of the Resolution on Access to Hospice and Palliative Care
3. Identify strategies to better reach and serve diverse populations
