Boards must comply with a diverse array of legal and regulatory requirements, and should conduct periodic reviews to assess the organization's performance. This session will focus on three key types of assessments that all boards should perform: assessment of the chief executive; self-assessment of the board; and an assessment of the ethical culture of the organization. If these assessments are done, and done well, they will help ensure that a board is meeting its most important responsibilities.

Learning Objectives:
1. Delineate key barriers to undertaking three key types of assessments
2. Outline key steps in each type of assessment
3. Identify actions to successfully move forward with each of the key types of assessments
