Obesity, especially morbid obesity, is an emerging health issue across populations. What implications does it have for end-of-life care? What is its impact on prognosis, for example? How do providers reconcile the image of the frail, thin patient with the obese patient who is also failing to thrive? And what impact does obesity have on care giving needs? Can we establish an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the unique needs of this growing population? This session will explore these issues through case-based discussions.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify ways in which obesity impacts prognosis for patients with life limiting illnesses
2. Discuss the ways obesity can impact care giving and care givers, especially at home
3. Specify approaches that an interdisciplinary team can apply to assist morbidly obese patients and their families achieve end-of-life goals and wishes
