Friday, April 8, 2011: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Primary Presenter:
Melanie Merriman, PhD, MBA
Area of Emphasis: Quality Assessment, Performance Improvement, Benchmarking
Learning Objectives:
1. Define the difference between benchmarks and comparison data
2. List key steps in using benchmarking and comparative data for performance improvement
3. Compare data from other hospices with your own hospice data
Benchmarking and comparison data for clinical quality indicators collected from nearly 100 hospices nationwide will be provided in this session. Using the quality data (which include indicators for pain management, infection control, initial and comprehensive assessment and incident/occurrence rates) as examples, this session will focus on how hospices can use the data for performance improvement.
