Learning Objectives:
1. Identify and describe the elements of a sound business case for palliative care
2. Define the roles and responsibilities of a practice manager in a community based palliative care practice
3. List three strategies for practice improvement that can be implemented in the local setting
Creating an effective, efficient palliative care practice organization is challenging.  In addition to clinical expertise, the success of a clinical practice model for community based palliative care is dependent on expert coding, regulatory compliance, provider credentialing, patient scheduling, provider scheduling/on-call responsibilities, budgets, billing and relationship building with a strong customer service focus.  This session will outline strategies for success and obstacles to be avoided.
