Participants will address ethical issues that arise both in the delivery of hospice care to patients and families as well as in hospice management. Beginning with an overview of ethical principles, this seminar will identify ethical elements in managerial dilemmas. Participants will engage in an "ethics laboratory," focusing on cases and issue resolution. In preparation for the module, participants are asked to be familiar with "Ethical Principles: Guidelines for Hospice and Palliative Care Clinical and Organizational Conduct" and "The Discontinuation of Hospice Care," available through NHPCO's Marketplace: www.nhpco.org/marketplace. This module is required for completion of Level I of the Hospice MDP.
