When hospice teams struggle with caring for patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs, eligible patients may be discharged for cause or revoke services returning to the emergency department. Accessing the ethics committee can often prevent discharges, revocations, and assist patients in receiving much-needed hospice care. This session offers a pathway for the team to prevent live discharges of hospice-eligible patients, regardless of the complexity of care.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify ethical dilemmas in daily clinical practice
2. Describe how ethics committees can resolve ethical dilemmas
3. Provide concrete strategies for teams to gain support and prevent live discharges of hospice-eligible patients
