Hospice Financial and Clinical Strategies for Success Using Predictive Services Modeling

In this session faculty will present an update on the current hospice payment reform measures including the two-tiered model and service intensity add on, and use examples to demonstrate how a Predictive Services Model and care management strategies could be useful for hospices to utilize to evaluate the clinical and financial impact of services in the last days of life. The faculty will also offer insights into the CMS 2017 Hospice Wage Index Final Rule and potential next steps in hospice reimbursement reform as related to additional data collection and reporting that will be required for public reporting and the potential impact on future payment

Learning Objectives:
1. Provide an overview and status update of the CMS 2016 and 2017 Hospice Wage Index and Payment Rate Update and Hospice Quality Reporting Final Rules
2. Identify key financial, clinical and operational hospice indicators to utilize in daily monitoring of service delivery
3. Utilize examples to demonstrate how the use of clinical case management/utilization management strategies in conjunction with the use of data and regression modeling can assist hospice providers in evaluating current and potential future reimbursement
