Special Events are Fun, But…How to Build a Comprehensive Hospice Fundraising Program

Friday, April 8, 2011: 2:00 PM-3:00 PM
Primary Presenter:
Michael R. Morse II, MS, CHA
Area of Emphasis: Fund Development
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify key aspects of a successful hospice fundraising program
2. Implement key fundraising initiatives that can expand current programs and positively impact the bottom line
3. Develop a long-range strategic plan for increased fundraising revenue
Hospices are feeling the pressure to do more with less. Reduced reimbursement rates along with increased expenses associated with new regulatory requirements mean that successful fundraising programs have never been more important. Hospice development departments and foundations must be able to move beyond traditional special events to raise the revenue needed to support critical programs and services. This session will examine the key elements of a comprehensive fundraising program including events, direct mail, major gifts, planned giving, memorial gifts, thrift stores and more.
