Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the need for establishing national benchmarks for hospice volunteer programs.
2. Name at least two sources for identifying volunteer data needed to establish internal and external volunteer program benchmarks.
3. Identify next steps for measuring participants' hospice volunteer program outcomes using internal and external benchmarks.
4. Increase access to hospice volunteer management tools and resources through active participation in NCHPP.
Members from the Volunteer/Volunteer Management Steering Committee of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP) will discuss their work with NHPCO to identify national benchmarks for hospice volunteer programs.  Participants will explore data that is currently available and will learn about new data collection that will allow them to measure their hospice volunteer programs against internal and external benchmarks. In addition, faculty will present tools and resources for measuring volunteer programs against national standards of excellence.
